Activities, Events & Trips

Each year the Little Rock Ski Club members enjoy activities like a fishing/float trip to the White River, a day trip to Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs for the horse races, a lobster boil in the fall, a summer picnic, a summer lake cruise, and a winter holiday dance "The Snowball".  Many other casual get-togethers are planned throughout the year.

Ski Trips

Each year the Little Rock Ski Club organizes several group trips with both value and quality in mind.  Past destinations include Snowmass, Aspen, Steamboat Springs, and other Colorado ski areas, Park City Utah Ski resorts, Lake Tahoe on the California-Nevada border, Big Sky, Montana, Whistler Blackcomb, Canada, and Innsbruck, Austria.  Trips normally include air, ground transfers and lodging in condos or hotel rooms and unless specifically noted, lift tickets, lessons and rentals will be extra, but at the best discounts available.  Many of our members may have some of their own equipment, and may choose to ski more or less days than come in package deals. We place a great deal of importance on new "never ever/beginners" and will assist the first timers in signing up for lessons, renting equipment, and skiing with them after they have "graduated" into the general skiing population.  Group trips can make your ski vacation more fun by having someone at your skiing level to ski with, and to party with afterwards. Meals and entertainment are up to the individual participants

Park City, Utah Jan 31 - Feb 7, 2009  Join the fun as the Little Rock Ski Club returns to the home of the 2002 Winter Olympics, Park City, Utah!  This was a very popular trip in Jan '07 - Great skiing, dining & shopping, and we'll be returning to the luxurious Peaks Hotel.  The low price of $1,530 ($1,363 non-skier) per person, double occupancy, includes round trip airfare, ground transportation, and a 3 of 6 day lift ticket to Deer Valley Resort.  Discounted daily lift tickets to nearby Park City Resort and The Canyons are available at the hotel.  Click here for a printable flyer with all the details.  Check out our Park City Links for maps, weather, snow reports, hotel and resort info.  Take a look at our gallery of photos and video from our Jan '07 trip Call Mike Graves at (501) 837-7222.

Breckenridge, Colorado Feb 21-28, 2009  Come join us for a fun-filled week in the beautiful Victorian mining town of Breckenridge, Colorado!  We'll be staying in the newly remodeled Pine Ridge condos - ski-in from the Four O'clock run, 150 yards to the snowflake lift, or catch the free ski shuttle from our condos.  It's just a 2 1/2 block walk to downtown Breckenridge for great dining, shopping and sightseeing.  The low price of $1,476 ($1,275 non-skier) per person, double occupancy, includes non-stop round trip airfare, ground transportation, a 5 of 6 day lift ticket good Breckenridge, Keystone, Arapahoe Basin, Vail and Beaver Creek.  Click here for a printable flyer with all the details.  Check out our Breckenridge Links for maps, weather, snow reports, condo and resort info.  Call Dave Bentley at (501) 412-3848.

What happened to Aspen?  Due to higher fuel prices, the airlines have drastically cut back on the number of flights, and raised their prices to the smaller, regional ski airports such as Eagle/Vail, Durango, Steamboat Springs, Big Sky, etc.  A round trip ticket from Little Rock to Eagle/Vail is now over $700.  Aspen has always been the most expensive domestic trip the Little Rock Ski Club has offered, and last season we were priced-out of our usual Chateau Chaumont/Dumont condo's into smaller condo's further away from the gondola and bus station.  The same Aspen trip for '09 would have cost over $2,000 per person.  The only way to keep costs down was to focus on ski resorts near the major airports, such as Denver and Salt Lake City.  Many other ski clubs have also had to change their plans due to airline costs, causing a run on ski resorts near the major airports.  We were lucky to get our block of rooms at the Peaks Hotel in Park City 31 Jan - 7 Feb '09.  It was sold out for 6 weeks before and after our time slot.  Our ski trip to Park City and the Peaks hotel last Jan '07 was a resounding success.  Our Breckenridge trip in the Pine Ridge condo's, along the four o'clock run, and just 2 1/2 blocks away from downtown Breckenridge also promises to be a great trip for skiers, shoppers, and diners alike.
